Edit PDFs offline

Change text, sign, stamp, redact and rearrange PDFs with your internet turned off. Open the site once, or install it as an app, and every tool keeps working.

Tools that work offline

Change what is on the page

Edit words, add a signature or a stamp, or remove what must not be shared.

Rearrange pages

Put pages in order, turn them, take some out, or combine and split files.

Convert

Turn Word, PowerPoint and Excel files, photos and scans into PDFs, or PDF pages into images.

Finish and share

Shrink the file, lock it, fix forms in place, make scans searchable or repair a file that won't open.

How it works offline

Every tool here runs in your browser. The first time you open the site, it saves its pages and PDF engines on your device, in the background, a few seconds after the page loads. Once the badge at the top says "Offline ready", you can turn off Wi-Fi or mobile data and keep working.

Your files were never sent anywhere in the first place, so nothing changes when the connection goes: the same tools read, change and save your PDF on your device.

OCR and the Word, PowerPoint and Excel converters are the exceptions. OCR's reading engine and languages (about 5 MB) and the Office converter (about 75 MB) download the first time you use them, unless you save them beforehand with the "for offline use" button on their pages. After that they work offline too.

Make OCR work offline

Install it as an app

Installing is optional. The tools get their own window and icon, and open like any other app.

Chrome or Edge on a computer
Choose "Install app" at the top of the page, or the install icon in the address bar.
Chrome on Android
Open the browser menu and choose "Install app" or "Add to Home screen".
Safari on iPhone or iPad
Tap the Share button, then "Add to Home Screen".
Firefox
Bookmark the page. Once it has been opened, it works offline in the same browser.

Questions

Does it really work without internet?

Yes, once the site has been opened in that browser and the badge says "Offline ready". Every tool then runs from the copy saved on your device. OCR and the Word, PowerPoint and Excel converters need their engines saved first: the first time you use them, or with the "for offline use" button on their pages.

Do I have to install anything?

No. The tools work offline in a normal browser tab. Installing gives the site its own window and icon, and on Android lets you share PDFs and images to it from other apps.

Is there a desktop app?

Installing from Chrome or Edge on Windows, macOS or Linux gives you one: the same tools in their own window, and you can open PDFs with it. There is nothing else to download.

Can I change the text in a PDF offline?

Yes. Edit PDF text changes or deletes the words on a page, offline like every other tool. It works on PDFs with real text, not on scanned pictures of pages.

Are my files saved anywhere?

No. A file stays in the page's memory while you work and is gone when you close the tab. Only the result you download is saved, by your browser, where you choose.
