- Unlocking also removes any print, copy and edit limits.
- A digitally signed PDF, such as an e-Aadhaar, loses its valid signature when unlocked, so keep the original.

Questions
I forgot the password. Can you unlock the PDF?
No. Unlocking needs the password; we never try to guess or crack it. Ask whoever sent the file, or download it again from where it came from.
Why does my PDF open without a password but still block printing?
It has only a permissions password, which limits printing, copying or editing. If you are allowed to use the file, Unlock removes those limits without asking for a password.
How do I open an e-Aadhaar PDF?
Its password is the first four letters of your name in capitals followed by your year of birth, for example SURE1990. Our Aadhaar PDF guide explains the rule and builds the password for you.
Does unlocking change the content?
No. Pages, text and images stay exactly as they were; only the encryption and its limits are removed.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser does the work on this device, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded. Nothing is sent to a server.
