Good to know

  • Most of the saving comes from photos and scanned pages. Text and fonts stay as they are.
  • If the size you ask for cannot be reached, you get the closest result and the reason.

Why it's private

  • Processed in your browser

The tool runs on your device. There is no upload step and no server that receives your files.

  • Works offline

Wait for Offline ready before disconnecting. OCR and Office conversion also need their engines saved on this device.

  • No ads or trackers

Tool pages load no ads, no analytics scripts and no third-party code.

Questions

Will the text stay sharp?

Yes. Text, fonts and drawings are kept as they are; only images are made smaller. Pages are turned into images only if you allow it to reach a very small size.

What if my PDF cannot get under the size I need?

You get the smallest version we could make and a plain explanation, for example that the fonts alone are larger than the limit. We never say a target was met when it was not.

Why is 200 KB shown as about 195 KB on my computer?

Some computers count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes. We aim under the stricter reading (1 KB as 1,000 bytes), so the file passes either way.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Yes. Enter the file's password when asked; it is used on this device only. The new file is not password-protected.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser does the work on this device, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded. Nothing is sent to a server.
